“Viderunt Omnes” is a work for big band based on the Gregorian Chant of the same title. The chant is well known for its florid organum treatment by Perotin, written at the end of the 12th century. This piece, taking inspiration from Perotin’s work, uses the original chant as a cantus firmus with a variety of ensemble textures built on top of it. The piece explores a range of aleatoric textures and opportunities for both solo and group improvisation.
